How have you been? It’s been mostly cold, grey and wet in Britain this week. I have been learning about the piddock and its antics. I Zoomed to the Sainsbury Centre in East Anglia to review a fascinating new Bill Brandt Henry Moore exhibition and drunk copious cups of tea, spiced with cacao, orange and cloves to warm my cockles. Confused? All will become clear, read on…Continue reading “This week… bears, bocadillos and Banksy”
Here we are at the first of November in a year that has exceeded any previous year for me in terms of challenges, and I’ve had more than a few personal ones over the years. Who hasn’t? That’s an integral part of life. As we re-enter national lockdown in the UK in the next few days, I try to reassure myself that I know the drill. Keep busy, practice self care, stay in regular touch with family and friends. Added to the list now though is ‘try not to think too much about what I’m missing’. Beam me up, Scotty.Continue reading “This week… under lockdown (twelve)”

Finally, we’re coming to the end of a long, dark tunnel and we can breathe out once again. We’re all anticipating the re-opening of the UK like excited children before Christmas.
As we await the government’s strategy for reemergence to be announced later this week, everyone is daring to plan their own exit from lockdown. Top of my list is being with family and, more daringingly, thinking about where I’ll be able to travel to, responsibly and safely.Continue reading “This week … under lockdown (six)”
This week I’ve been humming that haunting hit song by The Mamas & The Papas.
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
In these difficult days under lockdown, I’ve been daydreaming about the beach. It’s partly because of the warm spring sunshine and also, of course, because I’m cooped up like everyone else at home, and longing for wide open spaces.
Where are you dreaming about travelling to when we’re able to move freely once again?Continue reading “This week… under lockdown (five)”
